3.13.09 > the daily coffee show

what an awesome, super-fun way to get back into the pattern of playing shows. this was my first show since breaking my finger badly last september in a freak woodpile accident. it's been almost 6 months since that disgusting day (see franken-finger progress pics here (not for the faint of heart)), and i'm happy to say i played a pain-free show last night, hooray! i probably still have another 4-6 months before the finger is "normal" but it's good to know that i can play for a couple of hours and not really notice ...
anyway, THANKS everyone for showing up at the daily. it was great to see your smiling faces, and i hope you had as fun a time as i had. i'm trusting the 6-year-olds among us ended the night pretty exhausted :) sorry about the broken string ... i gotta take the martin in and have it tuned up.
some of you asked, so: yes, there really, truly, actually is a for-real album in process. my friend (and, as it happens, my boss), david thompson (of kane's river and fishing music fame), is helping me record and produce, and last weekend we got scratch tracks down for a whole bunch of songs. david is co-captaining this effort in every way, and i appreciate not only his huge time commitment but also his insights, ideas, and inclinations. i have intentionally not put a time limit on the album, but my gut says it might be out sometime toward the end of 2009 or early 2010.
and that is the show journal for last night. here are a few more pics:
